Grant County Fire District 8 is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a vacancy on the Board of Fire Commissioners. We invite interested community members to submit letters of interest for this important role.
Position Overview:
The Fire Commissioner is responsible for the governance of the Fire District, including budgeting, policymaking, and ensuring the effective delivery of fire protection and emergency services to the community. The role involves working closely with fellow commissioners, the Fire Chief, and other District personnel to guide the strategic direction of the Fire District.

The Board of Fire Commissioners will review all submissions and may conduct interviews with selected candidates. The successful candidate will be appointed to serve the remainder of the current term.

Commissioner Seanard was appointed to the Commissioner position in March 2025. He brings experience as a leader in non-profit organizations and as a business owner with deep connections to our communities and a strong commitment to its continued growth and safety.

Commissioner Nesbit was a volunteer firefighter and ambulance driver from 2000 to 2010. He was appointed to the Commissioner position in 2010 before being elected to the position in 2011.

Commissioner Jenkin was appointed to the Commissioner position in January 2025. He brings many years of experience in public safety from the law side as well as a having been a local business owner.

Commissioner Crain was a volunteer EMT and firefighter from 1998 to 2009. She was appointed and elected to the Commissioner position in 2011.

Commissioner Brixey became a volunteer firefighter after graduating from high school. He was in EMT-IV in Yakima before coming back to Mattawa in 1995 when he began volunteering as an EMT-IV and firefighter until he retired from active duty in 2019. He was appointed and elected to the Commissioner position in 2013.

District Secretary Davis was hired as Business Manager in 2012 and appointed District Secretary in October 2012. She brings years of business management, accounting, and project management skills to the District.
