Outside burning is banned within the Mattawa urban growth area per the Department of Ecology (DOE). To view a map of this area and find out more about residential outside fires and burning, click HERE. You may also call at (800) 406-5322, then choose option 2, then option 5.
The Department of Ecology (DOE) makes a daily decision regarding agricultural and other burning outside of urban growth areas based on current weather conditions and weather models. To learn the daily burn decision, you may call DOE at (800) 406-5322, option 2, then option 5 (District 8 is in Zone 43) or the District office after 9:00 AM. If burning is allowed, please notify the District office of your planned burn.
The County-wide burn ban is in effect from June 1 through September 30 each year. Some agricultural burning will be allowed during the ban on DOE designated burn days and the Fire Chief has the ultimate say in whether agricultural burning will be allowed.
More information about the burn ban can be found on the Grant County Fire Marshal's website: Click HERE
