2024 Funding Sources

Property Levies

In 2024,  general and EMS property tax levies are 49% of our revenues.

Service Contracts

We have service contracts with the City of Mattawa, Grant County PUD, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Grant County Hospital District No. 5, Washington Migrant Council, Grant County Fire District No. 10 (Royal Slope Fire & EMS).  These contracts are about 7% of our revenues.  Additionally, we bill for ambulance transport services and participate in a federal program that reimburses the District for transport services for some Medicaid patients.  Ambulance billing from these sources are about 16% of our revenues.

Grants

We have been very fortunate to  have been awarded a FEMA AFG grant for training as well as a number of Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) grants for apparatus, equipment, PPE, and training fire shelters.  These grants are about 9% of our revenues.

Payments in Lieu of Taxes

Federal and State agencies have  Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) agreements with the District to provide services to their land within the District.  PILTs vary from year to year depending on agency budgets and funding.  In 2024, PILTs make up 12% of our revenue sources.

Miscellaneous

Miscellaneous revenues are from interest income, leasehold excise tax, sale of surplus apparatus and equipment, room rental fees, and first aid CPR classes.  In 2024, we have two surplus apparatus for sale so this category is 7% of our revenues.
